Magic weekend

Started by: roylew (4031)

Should be scrapped and what a diabolical decision to have it Elland Road…may as well have it at Headingly…beggars belief…why bother?

So from national stadiums in Wales and Scotland,to big city venues,we arrive at an industrial estate in Leeds, with nothing to entice families or occasional supporters in the immediate vicinity. This venue looks to have been chosen with failure in mind.
IMG doesn’t want magic weekend,

TBF,have had some good weekends out of this event, which was initially put on to promote rl.
Imo it has “had its day”and should be stood down.
Perhaps a return to promoting the original RL weekend away, challenge cup final,is the way forward

It appears that with the demise of Newcastle Thunder and the fact that Newcastle Falcons RU are also struggerling to survive in the football mad area of the Norh East, the RFL have realised that Rugby will never make any impact there.

But, to move it to a dump like Elland Road which is situated in one of the worse districts of Leeds with a pub which is a dive just about sums up the thinking of the RFL and its IMG.

Needless to say, I for one will not be attending next years weekend and I suspect that with the exception of Yorkies from around West Yorkshire, I will not be the only one!

Fixtures also don’t make sense for this event, all the ‘big’ games on the Saturday.
Like OC,I will be staying this side of the big hill on this occasion.
Designed with failure in mind

It is for me an insult to stage the so-called "magic " weakend at a sh*t Hole like elland road utter disgusting and this is a step down in promotion of our game as far as i am concerned . Plus we always get the usual fixture s we more often than not get the Saints , but as someone has already stated who in their right mind wants to go anywhere near that place , why doesn't the R.L take notice of what the fans want . This is definately a step backwards .

He made two,one for Gill, and a long range break ,sidestepping Fairbairn for Stephenson to score.
Sorry if I’m wrong but it’s been a long time since 85

Well it was set at Elland Road, and there was that Don Revie who had been Leeds Manager, and Leeds played dirty, they were shithouses, and Cluffy did not like it, I remember it happening at the time, and I thought it was a good film
